THE 18 YARD BOX AT THE 2022 WORLD CUP

93% of goals in Qatar were scored inside the 18 Yard Box, a World Cup record.

The curtains have closed on Qatar 2022: a World Cup that will be remembered eternally for its many upsets, spellbounding drama and incredible finale.

18 Yard Clubbers will look back on the 2022 World Cup for it's record-breaking dependence on finising capability within the 18 Yard Box.

A record 93% of goals were scored from within the 18 Yard Box despite shots inside the box only making up 63% of total shots.  Furthermore, 2022 World Cup matches averaged 2.69 goals per match, the greatest ever since USA 1994.

In other words, World Cup players scored a greater portion of goals inside the 18 yard box, with a greater success of scoring, and in doing so scored more goals per match.

The importance of goal-scoring skills inside the 18 yard box is more evident than ever on the greatest stage of all.
